A Pledge to Keep One Another Safe: In Solidarity With #NeverAgainMSD

By February 26, 2018May 20th, 2019No Comments

One of our members told us about a child who asked her grandmother how many school shootings she had experienced as a child. “None,” the grandmother replied. “Oh, come on, Grandma. That can’t be true. Not even one?” “No, my dear, not a one.”

Such is life in the United States today that a child cannot imagine her grandmother not having had school shooting drills. This is not the life we want for our children and grandchildren.

When I was a child during the Cuban Missile Crisis, I could imagine the attack for which our bomb shelter drills prepared us. Thanks to level-headed adults we were safe. Where are the adults today working to keep our children safe? Today our children are leading the way.

Our membership wholeheartedly supports the students of #neveragainmsd and throughout the country in their efforts to enact reasonable gun restrictions. We, too, will walk out on March 14, March 24, and April 20. Together we pledge to keep one another safe.
