Sunday Platform – Christian Hayden: “Creating Community: Finding the ‘Us’ in Poetry”

July 14, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Using poetry that spans from timeless and local, deep and amusing as inspiration, Christian Hayden will lead a reflection activity that encourages attendees to reflect and create as a community. (Bring a favorite poem if you can!)

Christian says the most significant thing to know about him is that he is an Ethical Culture leader in training, which means you are stuck with hearing from him for awhile. The second most important thing is that he fell in love with photography recently so you might hear about that too. Christian is a full time facilitator, very part time poet, and striving to be a 24/7 humanist. He also spent a year in Ghana with the Humanist Service Corps and was awarded the Mossler Fellowship in 2016.

Shared Charity: TBA

Presider: Leader Dr. Anne Klaeysen

FREE and open to the public.

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings usually begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Ethical Culture philosophy. A collection basket is passed and money is shared between the Society and a charity selected for that day.  While contributions are always appreciated, Sunday meetings are free and open to the public.  Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
