SUMMARY:Leader's Roundtable: Redistricting Battles (Hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:Do the Right Thing? Thanks to Sondra for this topic. Here in New York\, Democrats currently have the power to influence the re-districting process. In Sondra’s words\, “Should the Democrats fight to win with the stakes so high or follow their basic guidelines? Is losing too dangerous or is not following norms you support more important?” \nBring your lunch and join Leader Dr. Nori Rost and members for an engaging round-table discussion on the issues of the day and recommended readings. \nReadings: \nhttps://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/overview-redistricting-provisions-freedom-vote-act \nhttps://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/14/nyregion/congress-redistricting-ny.html \nhttps://texasimpact.org/2021/09/getting-up-to-speed-on-redistricting/ \nCOVID-19 NOTICE: Only fully-vaccinated Society members are invited to attend in-person. All others are invited to join us via Zoom. We hope to open up to the public again as soon as possible. \nClick to join at start time | Zoom ID 861 1417 5760 | Passcode 347145 \n\nYou can download Zoom at https://zoom.us/download\, although it’s not necessary to do ahead of time. Zoom is available for tablets and smartphones in both main app stores\, Apple and Google Android. Attendees don’t need to register for a Zoom account although it’s free and helpful. To join a meeting\, simply click the event’s invitation link above.
