SUMMARY:Nori Rost: 'After Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Who Shall We Be?'
DESCRIPTION:In-person and online! \nFollowing the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, J. Robert Oppenheimer quoted these lines from the Bhagavad Gita: \nIf the radiance of a thousand suns\nWere to burst at once into the sky\nThat would be like the splendour of the Mighty One…\nI am become Death\,\nThe shatterer of worlds. \nAs we observe the 77th anniversary of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, Dr. Nori Rost will explore the lessons learned from such a significant event in human history and how we can choose another name than Death\, going forward. \nO\, let us be alert–alert in a twofold sense.Since Auschwitz we know what [humankind] is capable of.And since Hiroshima we know what is at stake.”―Victor E. Frankl\, Man’s Search for Meaning \nAbout Leader Dr. Nori Rost \nUntil coming to join us as Leader at NYSEC\, Dr. Nori Rost served the All-Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Colorado Springs\, CO as their settled minister for 13 years.
