DESCRIPTION:Join us each week in December for a free mid-day concert in historic Adler Hall! This week\, singer Caitlin Caruso Dobbs and pianist Alana Murphy perform songs from the American songbook and musical theater. \nCaitlin Caruso Dobbs is a NYC-based singer\, actor\, and teaching artist. She most recently joined the roster of the NY Philharmonic Chorus\, performing in two of their David Geffen Hall Opening Gala events\, including their presentation of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony which aired nationally on PBS. She currently sings professionally for the Broadway Carolers and for Episcopal and Catholic liturgies in NYC including The Roman Catholic Church of Our Saviour on Park Avenue and The General Theological Seminary. Favorite credits include: Dan Furman’s The Joe Hill Revival (Original Cast)\, Man of La Mancha\, Carousel\, Little Fish\, Into the Woods\, Les Miserables\, Thoroughly Modern Millie\, Hairspray\, Tosca\, La Traviata. Concert: Mealor Requiem Premiere at Carnegie Hall (Stern/Perelman)\, Requiem for Gaia’s Children World Premiere at The NY Society for Ethical Culture\, Summer Streets Organ Festival\, NYC Sing for Hope Concert Series at Port Authority\, The American Popular Song Society\, Don’t Tell Mama NYC\, El Taller Latino Americano\, The Virginia Theater (Champaign\, IL)\, The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (Urbana\, IL) and The Temple Theater (Viroqua\, WI). When not performing she teaches voice and piano privately\, is on the Teaching Artist roster for Midori & Friends and is the Director of the annual P.S. 261 (Brooklyn) After School Musical. She also sings with early-music vocal ensemble\, Musica Vera\, and plays keyboard in the feminist punk band\, Chaos Pixie. Education: B.M. NYU Steinhardt. www.caitlincarusodobbs.net. \nAlana Murphy is a pianist\, musicologist\, educator\, singer\, and freelance writer based in NYC. She received Bachelor’s and Masters’ degrees in piano performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and continues to perform in solo and collaborative capacities around the New York area. Alana currently teaches aural skills\, keyboard\, and music appreciation at Brooklyn College\, and works as an assistant editor for RILM\, a database for music research. Also an active singer\, Alana is a soprano in the professional Renaissance ensemble Polyhymnia and the octet Musica Vera. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner Arthur and their two rescue coonhounds\, Layla and Charlie. \nFree hot chocolate and snacks will be served! \nCOVID-19 Notice: Vaccination and mask are required to attend. \n
