DESCRIPTION:These dynamic musicians specialize in Brazilian jazz and will also perform original compositions by Sue Maskaleris. Ms Maskaleris reunites with her early band members for this performance: Laura Dreyer on sax and flute\, Paul Socolow on bass\, and drummer Vanderlei Pereira\, who hails from Rio! \nSue’s latest CD\, “Love Is the Key” ranked #6 on the Latin Jazz charts of the Roots Radio Report for 2021 and her first 2 CDs\, “Unbreakable Heart” and “Bring Nothing But Your Heart” feature jazz legends Eddie Gomez\, Lenny White\, Mark Murphy\, Michal Urbaniak\, Mark Egan and Toninho Horta. Sue placed second in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Composition Competition and won the Billboard Song Contest\, world category. She was a winner in the JAZZIZ Magazine “Keyboard on Fire!” Talent Search judged by Dave Brubeck and Bob James and has played in NYC for decades and toured the world solo and with groups. Visit her website here. \nLaura Dreyer hails from the Bay Area and is an accomplished composer and recording artist. She has played with Brazilian greats Dom Salvador\, Antonio Adolfo and many more. Laura has played and arranged with the Diva big band for 30 years. \nNative New Yorker Paul Socolow has toured and recorded with Astrud Gilberto\, Paquita D’Rivera\, Herbie Mann\, Tito Puente\, David Byrne\, Darlene Love\, Loudon Wainright III\, and even Tiny Tim. \nVanderlei Pereira’s “Blindfold Test” group has played at Dizzy’s and recently at SESC in Sao Paolo\, Brazil. His debut CD “Vision for Rhythm” included his own music. He has played with Airto Moreira and Flora Purim\, Leny Andrade and many more.
