The Rick Bogart Trio will join us to share in some of the traditional music of Mardi Gras and Dr. Rost will focus on the African American tradition that has developed during Mardi Gras/Carnival due to the racial exclusion of African Americans in the big parades of Mardi Gras. \nIt is a very rich tradition and shows a creative adaptation of one minority (African Americans)\, celebrating and honoring another minority (Native Americans) who gave refuge to people escaping enslavement. Sunday meetings begin with music\, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader\, member\, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events\, pressing social issues\, and Humanist philosophy.
