Refreshments available (wine\, beer\, soda). \nTickets\nClick here to purchase tickets on Eventbrite \nAbout the Charley Gordon Quintet\nJazz trombonist Charley Gordon was raised in Queens\, where he played in his father’s band at age 13 and started touring professionally at 17. He has a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the Aaron Copeland Conservatory at Queens College. Currently\, at Lehigh University\, Charley is the Lower Brass Artist Affiliate Instructor and continues to play and record with the Ed Palermo Big Band and Dave Chamberlain’s The Band of Bones. \nCharley toured extensively with Blood Sweat and Tears and played with the Duke Ellington Orchestra\, Toshiko Akiyoshi\, Maria Schneider and Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestras and many other bands led by Andrew Hill\, Ted Nash\, Tim Ries\, Robin Eubanks\, Chuck Mangione\, and Stevie Wonder. \nCharley has performed for years on many Broadway shows\, most notably Ragtime\, Curtains\, The Scottsboro Boys and Disaster the Musical. For the last 20 years\, Charley has been serving as a music coordinator for Westbury Music Fair and for multiple Broadway Cares shows and benefits. \nRay Marchica is one of the most diverse drummers in New York City. He is a graduate of Brooklyn College where he studied percussion with Morris Lang He was the drummer for The Rosie O’Donnell TV show\, The Radio City Music Hall Orchestra\, and Many Broadway productions. He has recorded with James Brown\, Little Richard\, Dan Hartman\, Earl Klugh\, Roy Buchanan\, Rodney Jones\, Tony Purrone\, Mike Longo\, and Barbara Streisand. \nRay has accompanied Bernadette Peters\, Betty Buckley\, Tommy Tune\, Joel Grey\, Michael Feinstein\, Leslie Uggams\, Shirley Bassey\, James Naughton\, Jimmy Webb\, Keely Smith and Marilyn Maye. \nHe is a member of The Ed Palermo Big Band and has recorded ten albums with the group. Ray has recorded two CDs with his own group. And has recently released a CD called RIVERSIDE with Oz Noy and Ugonna Okegwo. Please visit raymarchica.com \nChip Jackson – music college 1970-73. First major gig. WOODY HERMAN BIG BAND. went on to be sideman with most of major jazz musicians in the business. Including stan getz\, chet baker\, Elvin Jones(10 yrs). Benny Goodman\, Freddie Hubbard\, Chick Corea\, Billy Taylor(15 yrs) and dozens more. Played Carnegie hall 7 times. Toured Europe jazz festivals and clubs about 30 times. Japan 12 times. Currently playing locally in NYC area. Has one CD IS THERE A JACKSON IN THE HOUSE? \nStu Waters is an accomplished pianist and vocalist\, classically trained in piano at the Juilliard Prep School. Stuart started performing professionally at age 13 when he became involved in jazz and blues. At age 15\, he was featured as a rising star on WQXR Radio’s “Young America Plays”. He has performed throughout the United States\, and his performance and studio credits include projects with Joe Carbone\, Joe Carter\, Paula Atherton\, Earl Williams\, Walter Perkins\, James Cammack\, Chasey Dean and Rose Gunter \nPeter Brainin is a Grammy and Latin Grammy winning saxophonist\, composer and educator who has toured internationally with Mongo Santamaría\, Valery Ponomorev\, Hilton Ruiz\, Bebo Valdez\, Chico O’Farrill\, Bobby Sanabria\, Arturo O’Farrill & the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra\, Joris Teepe\, Willie Colon & Legal Alien\, Samuel Torres\, the Mambo Legends Orchestra and John DiMartino as well as with his own quartet and as a guest artist and clinician. In the U.S. he has performed and/or recorded with Wynton Marsalis\, Benny Golson\, Randy Weston\, Harold Mabern\, Idris Muhammad\, Jerry Gonzalez\, Paquito D’Rivera\, Sheila E.\, Eddie Palmieri and many other Jazz and Latin Jazz legends. Peter has appeared on over 200 albums including his own as co-leader with Steve Johns (which also feature contributions by Conrad Herwig\, George Cables and Ben Monder) and with the quartet Native Soul.
