DESCRIPTION:Our monthly series exploring the intersection of science and ethics continues with a look at medical aid in dying in New York State with Memorial Sloan Kettering and Weill Cornell School of Medicine psychiatrist Dr. Yesne Alici. \nIn February\, Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation S.138/A.136 that allows medical aid in dying to be available to terminally ill New Yorkers with less than six months to live. \nQ&A follows! \nJoin Online\nRSVP on Zoom Here \nAbout Dr. Yesne Alici\nDr. Alici is an Associate Attending Psychiatrist at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center and an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell School of Medicine. Dr.Alici is board certified in Psychiatry\, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. She is the liaison psychiatrist to the Neurooncology team and the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr.Alici is a member of the MSK Ethics Committee\, Clinical Ethics Consultation Service\, and the Chair of the MSK Medical Aid in Dying Advisory Committee. She is a clinician\, educator\, and researcher with interest in areas of psycho-oncology\, delirium in cancer patients\, neuropsychiatric sequelae of cancer and cancer treatments\, and ethical considerations at the end-of-life.
