At Home With the League of Women Voters: “Social Media and Democracy: 4 Things We’ve Learned That Might Surprise You” with Joshua Tucker

April 13, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The League of Women Voters’ Rochester Chapter and NYC Chapter host at special joint At Home with the League event!

Join Professor Joshua Tucker, the Co-Director of NYU’s Center for Social Media and Democracy and the co-editor of the recently published Social Media and Democracy: The State of the Field and Prospects for Reform for a presentation of recent research on fake news, foreign influence campaigns, hate speech on Twitter, and the impact of Facebook on ethnic polarization. Much of this information will challenge your thought about social media’s complicated relationship in politics. Professor Tucker will address the urgent need to insure researchers have access to data that inform the public about social media’s impact on society, and the ways in which the League of Women Voters can play a role in ensuring this happens.
