SUMMARY:Metropolitan Presents: Gaelic Storm
DESCRIPTION:Multi-national\, Celtic juggernaut Gaelic Storm will perform at Adler Hall at New York Society for Ethical Culture on Saturday March 28\, 2026 at 8:00PM along with special guest JigJam. \nIt’s hard to imagine a band just coming into their own after 20 years of success\, but that’s exactly what makes a true anomaly. Gaelic Storm\, a multi-national\, Celtic juggernaut grows stronger with each live performance\, and after two decades and over 2000 shows\, they are a true force to be reckoned with. \nThe band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience\, and it’s a well-diversified crowd for sure – attracting fans of every genre with their rich storytelling\, energetic instrumentals\, devotion to Celtic traditions and passion for their stagecraft. They are as loyal to their fans as the fans are to them\, as front man Patrick Murphy states\, “The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We’re here for them.” \nGaelic Storm takes a true blue-collar\, hard-nose approach to touring\, consistently traveling the US and internationally forging a unique path in the Celtic music world. “You have to see us live. We are the true working-man’s’ band\,” says longtime member Ryan Lacey. “We still\, and most likely always will\, tour most of the year\, and that’s how we constantly hone our craft.” \nThis dedication to their live show dates all the way back to the mid-1990s\, when Gaelic Storm kicked off its’ career as a pub band in Santa Monica\, California. One which performance led to their discovery that ultimately found the band appearing in the blockbuster film\, Titanic (where they performed “Irish Party in Third Class”). This laid the groundwork for a career that would eventually find them topping the Billboard World Chart six times\, making appearances at mainstream music festivals\, and regularly headlining the largest Irish Festivals across the country\, all while gaining a reputation as a genre-bending Irish rock band whose songs mix Celtic traditions with something uniquely creative. \nRecent years have seen the addition of Natalya Kay on fiddle and Parker Hastings on guitar\, who both bring their own energy\, musicianship and spirit to Gaelic Storm. \nTickets\nClick here to purchase \n— \nNotice: This event is managed and ticketed by Metropolitan Entertainment.

SUMMARY:John McDonagh Presents: Taxi 2 TikTok
DESCRIPTION:From John McDonagh\, Taxi 2 TikTok is a 70-minute solo performance that traces one New York City yellow cab driver’s journey from decades of anonymity to sudden internet fame—without ever leaving the driver’s seat. \nFor forty years\, John McDonagh drove a yellow cab through a city that rarely noticed the people who kept it moving. The first twenty years unfolded in near-total obscurity: no radios\, no cell phones\, broken pay phones\, and no safety net. \nAs technology enters the cab in the early 2000s\, McDonagh begins documenting the city around him through blogs and social media\, slowly finding an audience. His stories attract attention from mainstream media\, including The New York Times\, BBC News\, CBS Sunday Morning\, and The Moth\, as well as appearances in documentaries\, reality television\, and live performance spaces. These moments mark his transition from invisible observer to cultural participant. \nThe play’s final act explores a dramatic shift in how New York stories are told and shared. Through his unexpected collaborations with digital creators Kareem Rahma (Subway Takes)\, New York Nico\, and filmmaker Anthony Dimieri\, McDonagh finds himself propelled into the influencer economy—reaching millions without gatekeepers\, producers\, or permission. What once took decades now happens in seconds. \nBlending storytelling\, projected images\, video clips\, and music—from Grandmaster Flash to The Ramones—Taxi to TikTok examines labor\, visibility\, media power\, and the meaning of authenticity in a city where fame is now measured in seconds. It is a deeply personal story that doubles as a cultural history of New York City’s transformation—from street-level survival to algorithm-driven celebrity. \nTickets\n>> $25 – Click here to purchase on Eventbrite\nFREE for Society Members

YOU ARE INVITED! Friday\, March 27\, 2026!! The “Gandhi-King Season For Nonviolence” is an International Intergenerational Annual Celebration of the nonviolence philosophies of historical figures like Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi and Rev. It is an annual 64-day period spanning from January 30th (the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948) through April 4th (the day Dr. King was assassinated in 1968). SUMMARY:Death Café at Ethical Culture
DESCRIPTION:The New York Society for Ethical Culture is pleased to relaunch the Ethical Culture Death Café\, a monthly gathering that invites open\, thoughtful\, and compassionate conversation about death and dying. \nA Death Café is a free\, informal forum where people—often strangers—come together over tea and cake to talk openly about death. The purpose is not to reach conclusions\, provide therapy\, or offer grief counseling\, but rather to increase awareness of mortality\, normalize conversations that are often avoided\, and create space for honest reflection. \nThese conversations can be serious\, curious\, humorous\, philosophical\, or deeply personal. Participants are encouraged to speak—or simply listen—at their own comfort level. By talking openly about death\, many people find they are better able to clarify what matters most to them and\, in turn\, live more fully and intentionally. \nThe Ethical Culture Death Café is guided by shared values of dignity\, respect\, and ethical inquiry. All are welcome\, regardless of beliefs\, background\, or experience. There is no cost to attend\, no required preparation\, and no expectation beyond mutual respect and confidentiality. \nJoin us for a meaningful afternoon of conversation\, connection\, and reflection in a supportive community setting. \nRSVP\nClick here to RSVP on Eventbrite

He has built nonprofits\, founded a congregation\, and helped create job training programs in 20 states and on five national parks. SUMMARY:Sunday Platform with Curt Collier: Who Owns the Moral Life in a Democracy?
DESCRIPTION:Free in-person and online! \nWe are often blindsided when our government acts unethically\, yet we continue to expect it to serve as our moral compass. While influential think tanks like the Heritage Foundation argue that the state must reclaim the “moral center\,” Jean-Jacques Rousseau proposed the exact opposite: true moral authority resides solely with the people. If Rousseau is right\, have average Americans lost their grip on the nation’s conscience?
