There is research implicating implicit bias as having an impact on many areas such as how medical/health professionals treat patients/clients\, employment discrimination\, and achievement disparities in academia . The workshop will increase participants awareness of implicit race\, gender and sexuality biases. \nYou can voluntarily take the implicit association test before your Implicit Bias training with Dr. Gibson. Taking these assessments will increase your general awareness about implicit bias as a theory\, as well as give you an understanding about your own biases. \nBelow you can find the instructions to take the assessments. Please keep in mind that you do not have to enter any identifying information. Your personal results are for your eyes only. Taking these assessments may feel a little uncomfortable\, but keep an open mind! DESCRIPTION:Ethical NYC is partnering with American Slavery Project to grow racial justice through responsive youth dialogue. Youth are invited to a four-month series of programs\, featuring virtual productions of American Slavery Project’s REVERBERATION plays\, with follow up workshops based on ASP’s responsive youth curriculum. (Is that right? “responsive youth curriculum”?) \nOnce a month\, from March through May\, youth will engage in a Wednesday “Watch-n-Chat” session” followed with a Sunday “Dialogue-n-Deed” workshop with expert guidance to support deep inquiry. The series culminates with a JUNETEENTH gathering that combines the watch-’n’-chat and workshop sessions into a singular grand finale (note that the June finale is an all-in-one Saturday event). Youth participants will be treated as Racial Justice Scholars of Ethical Youth Programming and will be given a certificate of completion for full participation in the four-month program. DESCRIPTION:At MOTI’s interactive music and conversation presentation\, founder Alina Bloomgarden will introduce Music on the Inside. She’ll share stories about their work bringing music classes with professional musicians into New York’s jails and prisons\, and include the impact and lessons learned. The program will begin with a flute solo by Dawud Rahman\, who kept his spirit alive through music over 46 years in prison and now has weekly one-on-one music mentorships through MOTI with both a flute and saxophone professional. \nJazz singer and MOTI teacher Antoinette Montague will lead attendees in a call and response and share her experience teaching in the prisons with MOTI. She will guide attendees in writing their own blues\, as she does in the prisons. The program will culminate with more live-on-Zoom music by Dawud Rahman\, this time on Saxophone with a piano track he created. \nAlina Bloomgarden is the founder of Music on the Inside Inc. (MOTI)\, a nonprofit charitable organization working with professional musicians to bring music education\, mentorships and hope to individuals impacted by incarceration. She was a director and producer at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for over 23 years. Proposing that jazz had a rightful place at the country’s preeminent performing arts center\, Alina was the initiating producer of Jazz at Lincoln Center\, bringing Wynton Marsalis on as Artistic Advisor. DESCRIPTION:Ethical NYC is partnering with American Slavery Project to grow racial justice through responsive youth dialogue. Youth are invited to a four-month series of programs\, featuring virtual productions of American Slavery Project’s REVERBERATION plays\, with follow up workshops based on ASP’s responsive youth curriculum. (Is that right? “responsive youth curriculum”?) \nOnce a month\, from March through May\, youth will engage in a Wednesday “Watch-n-Chat” session” followed with a Sunday “Dialogue-n-Deed” workshop with expert guidance to support deep inquiry. The series culminates with a JUNETEENTH gathering that combines the watch-’n’-chat and workshop sessions into a singular grand finale (note that the June finale is an all-in-one Saturday event). In 1931 the huge above-ground York Hill receiving reservoir was decommissioned. Over the next two decades\, it was gradually replaced by the Great Lawn and its baseball fields. The Great Lawn is in the exact geographic center of the Park. We will find some of the few remains of the old structure. \nFrom there we proceed to the Park’s highest point\, Summit Rock. This area is the site of Seneca Village. Started in 1825\, the Village grew to around 225 residents by 1855\, about 2/3 of them African Americans. \nDetails: We’ll meet in front of Ethical (64th Street and CPW) and walk north along CPW and in the Park. Judy will take us on her storytelling journey exploring how what seems long ago\, still reverberates today. \nJudy Tate is a four-time Daytime Emmy Award winning writer and WGA award recipient. Tucker is Professor of Politics\, affiliated Professor of Russian and Slavic Studies\, and affiliated Professor of Data Science at New York University. He is the Director of NYU’s Jordan Center for Advanced Study of Russia\, a co-Director of the NYU Center for Social Media and Politics\, and a co-author/editor of the award-winning politics and policy blogThe Monkey Cage at The Washington Post. He is the co-Chair of the independent academic advisory team for the2020 Facebook Election Research Study\, serves on the advisory board of theAmerican National Election Study\, the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems\, and numerous academic journals\, and was the co-founder and co-editor of theJournal of Experimental Political Science.
