SUMMARY:Ethics Unplugged: Embodied Movement with Sexologist Tyomi Morgan (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Notice: This week’s session is online only. \nJoin Society Leaders Nori Rost and Jé Hooper for Ethics Unplugged\, an exciting reimagining of Ethical Culture\, every Wednesday at 7:00pm. \nThis week’s guest is sexologist\, pleasure coach\, and intimacy coordinator Tyomi Morgan: \n\nMy name is Tyomi and I am a certified Sexologist\, Pleasure Coach\, Movement specialist and ASSASSIN Trainer.\n\nI began my journey with movement in high school when I joined a dance club called Orchesis\, and it changed my life forever. I was an introvert with a body that appeared to be much more mature than my age\, and I often felt shame around it. Dance taught me to be proud of my body and to use it to express myself through art. I gained confidence\, learned how to move through life shamelessly\, and connected with my sensuality forever.\n\nI am passionate about movement\, and I understand what it’s like to feel disconnected from your body. Taking control of your pleasure is rooted in your ability to feel into your body and to trust it in motion.\n\n\nJune’s Theme: Wild and Holy Embodiment\, Pt. II \nAs we head into our final month of our Ethics Unplugged experiment we will continue to focus on embodied pleasure. The conversations through May have been deeply personal\, theoretical\, and just down right juicy! We couldn’t cover all the topics we wanted to\, so we’re extending the theme. Living ethically is always an embodied experience\, but sometimes we Ethical Humanists tend to get stuck in our head and forget we even have a body! \nThis month we’ll explore embodied movement\, talk about sex in our elder years\, and explore how rest can be resistance. As always\, we will bring the hermeneutics of ethics to these conversations\, remembering there is an ethical practice in the most radical spaces to engage the most revolutionary acts of pleasure. \nThe first three weeks will be Zoom webinars only\, to accommodate our guest speakers\, but join us live and in person on June 22nd to celebrate the wrap-up of a great experiment! People who attend in person will be given a special gift to help you love and appreciate your beautiful\, strong\, tender\, capable bodies! \n\nWatch Online! Click to Join at Start | Zoom ID 864 8703 7420 \nFree and open to the public!

SUMMARY:Leader’s Lunchtime Roundtable: Reparations (Hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:Bring your lunch and join Leader Dr. Nori Rost and members for an engaging round-table discussion on the issues of the day and recommended readings. \nIn recent years there has been much talk about reparations for African Americans. For those whose ancestors were enslaved or victims of red-lining in post-WWII America\, there is no doubt that those long ago abuses were major causes of current inequalities. How can we “fix” this? What has already been done? Should it be the responsibility of the state or federal government? \nhttps://www.cnn.com/2022/07/13/us/reparations-state-local-commission-reaj/index.html \nhttps://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/8/5/australia-to-create-reparations-fund-for-stolen-generation#:~:text=The%20reparation%20fund%20is%20part%20of%20a%20one-billion\,and%20social%20indicator%20in%20comparison%20with%20other%20Australians. \nhttps://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/27/us/politics/reparations-democrats-black-americans.html \nFree and open to the public!\nCOVID-19 NOTICE: Masks are optional but strongly encouraged. \nClick to join at start time | Zoom ID 861 1417 5760 | Passcode 347145

SUMMARY:Climate and Energy Game Night with The Assemblies Project and City Atlas
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Philip Lindsay and Forrest Sparks (facilitator and designer)\, and the City Atlas network. \nJoin us June 14\, July 12\, and August 16! \nThe goal of these sessions is to provide a consistent time and place where the public can come to learn and play collaborative climate/environmental and energy games.  We’ll primarily play Energetic\, but also the upcoming Daybreak\, and the recently released “Climate Fresk.” We will likely also play games that deal with governance/politics. \nIf we are to confront the climate crisis at scale\, we will need to collaborate and coordinate across fields\, neighborhoods\, cultures and industries. A serious energy transition demands such coordination (that’s what Energetic the game teaches us). Collaborative games and policy making forums (such as deliberative citizens’ assemblies) point the way forward to enable us to do this at scale. They orient participants towards longterm goals and enable them to work through scenarios of the coming decades\, in order to discuss what policies will be most efficient and successful at reducing emissions while maintaining public support. \nClick here to RSVP on Eventbrite! \nAbout the Hosts \nPhilip Lindsay grew up in Philadelphia and lives in Sunset Park\, Brooklyn. He leads the Democracy Innovation Hub (DIH) at the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College. In July of 2022\, the Hub hosted “Citizens’ Assemblies: A Workshop to Revitalize Democracy\,” which brought together over 50 public servants\, elected officials\, and community advocates. This led to the implementation of three deliberative budgeting processes in NYC government in 2023. Philip also co-taught the course “Democratic Innovation and Citizen Lotteries: from Ancient Athens to the French Climate Assembly.” The Hub also hosted the “Doing Democracy Differently Teacher Fellowship” which trains high school teachers on how to bring deliberative democracy into the classroom. \nCOVID-19 Notice: Vaccination required. Masks optional but strongly encouraged.

SUMMARY:Ethics Unplugged: 'Pleasure to Last a Lifetime' with Melanie Davis (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Notice: This week’s session will be online-only. \nOften people think sexual activity ends when a person reaches a certain age\, but nothing could be further from the truth! In this Ethics Unplugged session we’LL be joined by Melanie Davis\, director of the UUA’s Our Whole Lives program. OWL is a lifelong sexuality education curriculum with age-appropriate lessons spanning from pre-K to older adults. \nMelanie will discuss some of the curriculum of OWL for Older Adults\, which addresses: \n\nSexuality and Values\nAttitudes about Aging\nDating as an Older Adult\nBody Image\nSafer Sex\nDisability\, and Chronic Illness\nExamining Sexual Scripts\nThe Sexual Body\nSexual Orientation and Gender Identity\nIntimacy\nSexual Consent and Boundaries\nFamily Matters\nSexuality and Loss\nReframing Sexuality\nSex Play Beyond Basics\nAnd more!\n\nIn addition\, I encourage you to read this article about sex after 70 from the New York Times. If you need a PDF Copy\, reach out to Dr. Rost. \nABOUT MELANIE DAVIS\, PHD\, CSC\, CSE\, CSES \nMelanie earned certification as a sexuality counselor and educator through the American Association of Sexuality Educators\, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and consults privately with individuals and couples at the New Jersey Center for Sexual Wellness\, which she co-founded in 2009. She is an AASECT-certified supervisor for individuals seeking to become certified sexuality educators\, and was named the 2022 AASECT Sexuality Educator of the Year. \nMelanie provides professional development and presentations for physicians\, nurses\, medical students\, long-term care professionals\, educators\, and clergy. She does a significant amount of training through her position as the Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education Program Manager for the Unitarian Universalist Association\, as well. \nShe is the co-president and founding member of the Sexuality and Aging Consortium at Widener University\, and she founded SaferSex4Seniors.org\, an educational site for sexually active and/or interested adults in mid- and older age. \nIn every area of her work\, Melanie approaches sexuality as a positive part of life that should be treated with respect\, care\, integrity\, celebration\, and humor throughout the lifespan. She is committed to providing services and resources that are anti-racist\, anti-oppressive\, and inclusive. Visit her online at melaniedavisphd.com. \nJUNE’S THEME: WILD AND HOLY EMBODIMENT\, PT. \nWatch Online! Click to Join at Start | Zoom ID 864 8703 7420 \nFree and open to the public!\nCOVID-19 Notice: Masks are optional but strongly encouraged. \nJoin Society Leaders Nori Rost and Jé Hooper for Ethics Unplugged\, an exciting reimagining of Ethical Culture\, every Wednesday at 7:00pm.

\nWatch Online! Click to Join at Start | Zoom ID 864 8703 7420 \nFree and open to the public!\nCOVID-19 Notice: Masks are optional but strongly encouraged.

SUMMARY:Leader’s Lunchtime Roundtable: TikTok Around the Clock (Hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:Bring your lunch and join Leader Dr. Nori Rost and members for an engaging round-table discussion on the issues of the day and recommended readings. \nMost people know TikTok as a social media platform where users make dances or endless cat videos go viral. The state of Montana has already banned it; that is being challenged in court. What are the limits of government control over foreign based apps? \nhttps://www.govexec.com/technology/2022/11/tiktok-should-be-banned-us-fcc-commissioner-says/379281/ \nhttps://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/03/learning/should-the-united-states-ban-tiktok.html \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A6JQx-8GDQ \nFree and open to the public!\nCOVID-19 NOTICE: Masks are optional but strongly encouraged. \nClick to join at start time | Zoom ID 861 1417 5760 | Passcode 347145
