Under Lieberman’s leadership\, the NYCLU has expanded the scope and depth of its work\, supplementing litigation with an aggressive legislative advocacy and a field-organizing program. As a result\, the organization is widely recognized as the state’s leading voice for freedom\, justice and equality\, advocating for those whose rights and liberties have been denied. \nLieberman began her public interest legal career as a criminal defense lawyer in the South Bronx office of the Legal Aid Society\, and she later acted as executive director of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys. For several years\, she served on the faculty of Urban Legal Studies Program at City College. She joined the NYCLU in 1989 and became the founding director of its Reproduction Rights project. \nMonthly Collection\nUplifting Afghan Girls \nAbout Sunday Platform\nSunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate\, stimulate personal growth\, inspire reflection and action\, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music\, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader\, member\, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events\, pressing social issues\, and Humanist philosophy. DESCRIPTION:Join the UWS community for a memorial honoring the life of our neighbor\, Jason (aka Thomas or Dwane) \nOn the rocks above the 63rd Street entrance to Central Park\, Jason (aka Thomas or Dwane) passed his time reading\, sleeping\, and sometimes chatting with neighbors. He was a wise and gentle soul. \nWhile we search for his name\, identity\, and possible family\, we want to acknowledge his passing from hypothermia this past weekend. \nCome with a story about him\, a candle\, or flowers. We’ll gather for a short remembrance circle and then walk to his home spot to leave candles\, flowers\, and some neighborhood love. \nRSVP\nTo make sure we have enough space\, RSVP is required.
