Instead\, we will share our thoughts and observations about the impacts upon us and upon society as well as our own survival strategies. In-person only. \nAbout Dr. Pierre Arty\nPierre Arty\, M.D. is a member of the Ethical Culture Social Service Board and currently serves as the Chief Psychiatric Officer for Housing Works\, where he provides psychiatric supervision\, direct psychopharmacological treatment for adults and those with substance use disorder\, and oversees the Wellness program. \nDr. Arty was born in Cap-Hatien\, Haiti and raised in East Flatbush\, Brooklyn. He received his M.D. from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and his B.A. from Columbia College of Columbia University. He is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine. He is also a Board member of World Compassion Fellowship\, an international humanitarian and development organization whose mission is to provide holistic development and care for the individual\, the family\, and the community. \nDr. Arty is a member of the Social Service Board of NYSEC and the author of the book Life and Death and the Things in Between\, published in 2017 and available on Amazon. \nAbout Dr. Richard Koral\nDr. Richard Koral is Leader at the New York Society for Ethical Culture and the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island. He attended The Humanist Institute and holds a Doctor of Ministry in Interfaith Pastoral Counseling as well as a J.D. degree. DESCRIPTION:Join us on a hike to Bull’s Hill in historic Cold Spring\, NY! \nThis 3-hour hike will take us to a summit over the Hudson River. You will be rewarded with stunning views of the river and\, on a clear day\, Manhattan. We will take a scenic train ride to the town of Cold Spring. The town\, set on the east bank of Hudson\, has many antique stores\, nice coffee shops\, several restaurants\, and a lovely small park. This town is worth a day’s visit even if you do not hike! \nGetting There\nThe ride on Metro North Hudson line takes an hour and twenty minutes and offers spectacular views of the river. We will meet at the information booth at Grand Central at 8:35 am. If you arrive after that time\, find us on the train that leaves at 8:56 am (Hudson Line\, train to Poughkeepsie). The round-trip ticket is $32 (off peak fare) and $21.50 for seniors. Children ride for $1 each way when accompanied by a fare paying adult. Please buy your own tickets. Bring a water bottle\, light lunch and/or snack for the trail\, and a few dollars for a coffee stop at a local cafe. Wear hiking or sturdy walking shoes (the trail surface is uneven and there are steep parts on descent)\, and dress in layers for the hike.
