A Day For Justice: ‘The First Step’ Screening and Juneteenth Jazz Jubilee Benefit Concert for Music on The Inside June 17

By June 15, 2023No Comments

Join the New York Society for Ethical Culture, Music on The Inside, and the Social Justice Network on Saturday, June 17 for a day celebrating freedom, resilience, community, and the possibilities of good things to come!

2:30pm
The First Step Screening

Join us for a screening of The First Step, an important new documentary focusing on the passage of the landmark First Step Act. After the film we’ll hold a fireside chat on this criminal justice reform victory and the fight to come, including for Senate passage of the EQUAL Act.

In a divided America, progressive activist and political commentator Van Jones controversially works across party lines on landmark criminal justice reform and a more humane response to the addiction crisis. Attempting to be a bridge builder in a time of extreme polarization takes Van and a coalition of unlikely allies deep into the inner workings of a divisive administration, internal debates within both parties, and the lives of frontline activists fighting for their communities.

NOTICE: A panel discussion planned for after the screening has been postponed. Please watch for updates announcing that future date. Tickets to this event will be honored on that date as well.

Screening: $20
