‘Decarbonization Districts: Accelerating Achievement of Clean Energy Goals’ with District Energy Systems’ with Linnea Paton
Hosted by 350NYC, ThirdAct NYC, and Ethical NYC!
Ever wonder what’s up with those clouds of steam that occasionally rise up from under NYC’s streets and sidewalks? Join us for a presentation by Linnea Paton, head of long-range planning for ConEd’s district steam system, the largest in North America. She’ll talk about plans to use industrial heat pumps and electric thermal energy storage to charge the system, which would result in huge reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
Linnea Paton specializes in decarbonization strategy within the energy sector, with expertise in district energy systems and building energy efficiency. She focuses the development of pathways for large-scale greenhouse gas reduction. She has received multiple industry recognitions, including awards from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and the International District Energy Association for her contributions to energy efficiency and sustainable infrastructure.
Linnea’s presentation will be followed by open discussion about our two organizations and our efforts to protect the climate and counter authoritarianism.
