Ethics and the Theater: The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams

September 18 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Our long-running play reading and discussion series continues with The Glass Menagerie:

This classic of the American theater, which catapulted Williams to fame, revolves around the Wingfield family: Tom, an aspiring poet; Laura, Tom’s painfully shy sister who escapes into the world of her glass animal figurines; and their mother, Amanda, who dreams of her days as a debutante. When Tom, pressured by Amanda, brings home a “gentleman caller” for Laura, these illusions, which make their lives bearable, are suddenly threatened.

After the play, we’ll hold an open discussion about the ethical issues raised and explored in the work.
