Ethics in Film: Black Narcissus

December 6, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This explosive work about the conflict between the spirit and the flesh is the epitome of the sensuous style of Michael Powell and Emeric Presburger. A group of nuns struggle to establish a convent in the Himalayas, while isolation, extreme weather, altitude, and culture clashes all conspire to drive the well-intentioned missionaries mad. A darkly grand film, Black Narcissus is one of the greatest achievements by two of cinema’s true visionaries.

Join us every 1st Friday for film screenings followed by a lively discussion of the ethical issues explored.

$5, includes snacks and refreshments (popcorn, beer, coffee, tea).
