Lunchtime Roundtable: Issues Worth Talking About – Racism in America: 1619-Today – Hope or Despair?

December 19, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

This is a big topic in a short month.  If you can only read and consider some of the pieces, you’re still welcome to attend the discussion.  Most readings are from The 1619 Project, published in August’s New York Times Magazine.  It is a deeply research and widely collaborative effort.

This week’s readings:

Hope or Despair?

The Case for Reparations, Ta-Nehisi Coates. The Atlantic. 6/14/18

The 1619 Project.  Undemocratic Democracy. Jamelle Bouie. NYT Magazine 8/18/19

Bring your lunch and join members and others for engaging conversation. Folders with relevant articles are available from Maggie Determann in the Membership office.
