Home With The League of Women Voters: ‘NY Redistricting: What’s Happened and What’s Next?’ with Jeffrey M. Wice (Online)

On Feb. 3, Governor Kathy Hochul signed New York’s new congressional map into law. Many political analysts question if this rezoning offers Democrats an advantage in the state.

New York Law School’s Jeff Wice will talk about the recent New York State redistricting process and how the new map could influence state legislation. He will also discuss the status of a court challenge to the new congressional and state legislative district lines, and the upcoming 2022 New York City Council redistricting process.

City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams will also deliver remarks.

Jeffrey M. Wice is an adjunct professor/senior fellow, New York Law School. He has over 40 years of experience working in redistricting, voting rights, and census law. Professor Wice is the guru of redistricting in NY. He is now working on his 5th redistricting cycle. He has assisted many state legislative leaders, members of Congress, and other state and local government officials on redistricting and voting rights matters across the nation.ard Prison Initiative where he earned his B.A. and graduated from Hunter College with a MSW in 2019.
