Practical Ethics on Expectations and Accomplishments: ‘A Summer’s Reading’ by Bernard Malamud (Hybrid)

June 12, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In this program we’ll explore the ethics of living by reading a short story that highlights an ethical dilemma. The stories are generally available, and they can also be obtained from the Society approximately two weeks before the session upon request to mdetermann@nysec.org or rkoral@nysec.org.

This month, we’ll be discussing “A Summer’s Reading” by Bernard Malamud.

Our topic is expectations: others’ expectations of you and your expectations for yourself. What is realistic and what is unrealistic? What is motivating and what is oppressive?

Facilitated by Leader Richard Koral. 2nd Mondays at 2:00pm, in Room 514 and streamed on Zoom.
