Practical Ethics: ‘Man Plans, God Laughs: Is There Rhyme or Reason to Reality?’

In this program we’ll explore the ethics of living by reading a short story that highlights an ethical dilemma. The stories are generally available, and they can also be obtained from the Society approximately two weeks before the session upon request to mdetermann@nysec.org or rkoral@nysec.org.

The stories we’ll be discussing are:

  • “God Sees the Truth, But Waits” by Leo Tolstoy
  • “The Ant and the Grasshopper” by Somerset Maugham
