Sunday Platform with Curt Collier: We Love You Betty Crocker!

From the 1960s to the 1990s, Shirley Collier worked as a hairdresser in two small south Texas towns. Over the years, she collected scores of recipes from patrons who brought in goodies to share. These recipes were scribbled on scraps of paper, on the backs of blank checks or receipts and often contained personal notes and bits of wisdom, as well.
Her son Curt Collier will share these recipes and will prepare some of the wacky, weird, and wonderful delectables from Medina County, Texas, for you to taste. He will also share what he learned from the women who created these recipe cards and what this unique collection of tidbits says about life and living it well on a budget.
Community lunch follows, free for first-time guests!

About Curt Collier
Curt Collier is the Leader of the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County and a passionate advocate for community redevelopment. He works as a consultant, helping nonprofits enhance their capacity to make a positive impact. Additionally, Collier is a professor of Ethics and Ethics in Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University and serves as a Community Planning Specialist for the National Park Service. He leads various initiatives, including job training programs for area youth, support for environmental nonprofits in New Jersey, and projects aimed at improving scientific literacy among young adults. Collier is also the consulting Leader for the Ethical Culture Society of Silicon Valley, and the Austin Ethical Society.

About Sunday Platform
Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest. Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
