Sunday Platform – Remembrance Sunday (Online)

On this last Sunday of the year, we set aside time to honor the loved ones of the past. We immortalize them by bearing witness and by carrying on their spirit in our own lives. We face tomorrow with hope made stronger by the lessons we have learned and the love we have shared.

Dr. Richard Koral is a Leader at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. He is also a part-time Leader for the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island. Richard studied at the Humanist Institute and holds a Doctor of Ministry in interfaith pastoral counseling from the Hebrew Union College. He also holds degrees from New York University and The New York Law School. Dr. Koral is a longtime member of the Ethical Culture community, having been a member of the Society in White Plains for many years. He served as its president in the late’90s and early 2000s. Active in the American Ethical Union, our national federation, Dr. Koral served on its Board and was its president from 2012 to 2015.

Shared charity: The New York Society for Ethical Culture

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings usually begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Ethical Culture philosophy. A collection basket is passed and money is shared between the Society and a charity selected for that day.  While contributions are always appreciated, Sunday meetings are free and open to the public.  Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
