Who Inspires You? 7th Annual Claudette Colvin Festival

Sun March 29 | 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

FREE All-Ages Gathering!

Celebrate inspirational women at Ethical’s 7th Annual Claudette Colvin Festival and help launch Civil Rights Warrior, a new memoir by Civil Rights Movement activist Evelyn Jones Rich.

Hosted by Ethical NYC and LaborArts, with collaborating support from Writopia Lab, the Ghandi-King Sesson for Nonviolence, and Project PeaceLights.

At age 15 in Montgomery, Alabama, Claudette Colvin refused to move to the back of a bus. Her determination and courage inspired Rosa Parks’ famous protest against bus segregation just nine months later.

At age 92, lifelong activist Evie Rich wrote a memoir about her adventures in education and civil rights.

The program features stories about Colvin, remarks from Rich, and a chance for intergenerational discussions about who inspires us – young and old.

Refreshments served.
