Event Series: Sunday Platform

Sunday Platform with Curt Collier: How to be Gay (Even if You’re Not a Homosexual)

Sun June 28 | 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM

Free in-person and online!

At a time when many people still struggle to live openly and authentically, “How to Be Gay: Even If You Are Not a Homosexual” explores a deeper and more universal question: what can all of us learn from those who have had to fight simply for the right to exist as themselves?

Drawing from the writings, reflections, and lived experiences of gay thinkers, activists, and ordinary people, this talk examines how the struggle for self-acceptance often produces profound insights into courage, identity, dignity, community, and freedom. More than a talk about sexuality, this is a conversation about becoming fully human — about resisting shame, rejecting conformity, standing up for the humanity of others, and discovering what becomes possible when people refuse to hide who they are.

Community lunch follows, free for first-time guests and families participating in the Young Ethical Explorers Program.

About Sunday Platform

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
