Event Series: Sunday Platform

Sunday Platform with Curt Collier: Who Owns the Moral Life in a Democracy?

Sun March 22 | 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM

Free in-person and online!

We are often blindsided when our government acts unethically, yet we continue to expect it to serve as our moral compass. While influential think tanks like the Heritage Foundation argue that the state must reclaim the “moral center,” Jean-Jacques Rousseau proposed the exact opposite: true moral authority resides solely with the people. If Rousseau is right, have average Americans lost their grip on the nation’s conscience? Join us as we explore whether we still hold the levers of morality—and how we might take them back.

Community lunch follows, free for first-time guests and families participating in the Young Ethical Explorers Program.

About Sunday Platform

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
