Join Lauren Miller Karalunas as she previews the threats to free and fair elections that we can expect to face over the next four years. She will explore the challenges ahead and offer a roadmap for state officials, advocates, and voters to take action to protect and strengthen our democracy.
About
Lauren Miller Karalunas serves as counsel in the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law. At the Brennan Center, she litigates voting rights and election interference cases and counsels lawmakers and administrators on legislation and policy reforms. She comments on voting and election issues in a variety of media outlets, including the Associated Press, NPR, and Rolling Stone.
Prior to joining the Brennan Center, Miller Karalunas was a Public Rights Project Fellow and Special Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County (Chicago) State Attorney’s Office. In that role, she served as the first attorney in the office’s affirmative and impact litigation section, where she litigated a successful challenge to the Trump administration’s public charge rule and defended several county firearm ordinances.
Miller Karalunas has a BA with honors and distinction from Stanford University and earned her JD from Yale Law School. She clerked for Judge John R. Blakey of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

About Sunday Platform
Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest. Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
