Young Ethical Explorers First Sundays Festival: “Oh My Gods! A History of Belief” w/ Author J.R. Becker

November 7, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

J.R. Becker, author of the Annabelle & Aiden series of childrens’ books, joins YEE at 1:30pm on Sunday, November 7 to read his latest, Oh My Gods: A History of Belief:

Tardigrade Tom takes Annabelle & Aiden on a journey from the earliest humans who believed everything around them (trees, rocks, skies) could think and feel – like they could. Venture deep into dark caves, where early humans draw animal spirits on the walls, and watch shamans sway, illuminated by nearby fires. Watch us build amazing temples and tombs, and give offerings and praise, as we learn ideas of reciprocity and trade. Explore world religions & cultures chronologically, from Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece, to present-day world religions. Most uniquely, this book will impartially explain how and why our beliefs emerged and evolved, and what they say about who we are.

About the Author

J.R. Becker holds a B.A. in Philosophy and a Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law. When he’s not practicing entertainment law, playing drums, or enjoying the great outdoors, Joseph enjoys all the science and philosophy books and podcasts he can, pondering the bigger questions and dreaming up ideas for future children stories.

After becoming a father, J R Becker was inspired to found the Annabelle & Aiden children’s book series to foster curiosity and scientific awareness in the next generation. Joseph lives in New Jersey with his wife Leah, and two children, Annabelle & Aiden.
