Join us On Zoom -- It's Easy!

To protect each other and our community during the coronavirus pandemic, all in-person events at Ethical NYC have been suspended until further notice. But no need to worry! To stay connected, we’re turning to the free online meeting service Zoom, where we’re hosting regular programming.

Zoom is free and easy to use, and available for all computers, tablets, and smartphones.

How to Use Zoom

Attendees don’t need to register for a Zoom account although it’s free and helpful. Visit http://www.zoom.us for information.

From your desktop or laptop computer (Mac or Windows), to join a meeting simply click the event’s invitation link below. Zoom will automatically download and start. To download Zoom ahead of time visit http://www.zoom.us/download

Zoom Tutorials

Zoom Etiquette

  • Join from a quiet place free of background noise and visual distraction.
  • Mute yourself when you aren’t speaking. You can mute and un-mute yourself using the microphone icon at the bottom left of the Zoom window. For larger meetings participants will be automatically muted when they first join. You can also temporarily un-mute yourself by holding down your spacebar. If dialing in from a phone, please mute yourself using the icons on your phone’s screen, or any physical mute buttons.
  • Join with only one device to prevent audio feedback, unless absolutely necessary. If your computer does not have a microphone and you need to dial in with your phone to speak, please mute your computer’s speakers.
  • Pause your camera feed when necessary. If you need to step away from your computer, are working on other tasks and moving around while listening, are eating leftovers, or just feel like stepping out of the limelight for a bit, press the camera icon at the bottom left of the Zoom window to turn off your camera. Press it again to turn it back on.
  • Join the meeting a few minutes early. It will give all of us time to sort out any technical issues.
  • Speak slowly, clearly, and avoid crosstalk that makes it hard for others to hear.
  • Turn your phone or tablet sideways (“landscape” orientation) so your full image is visible to other attendees.
