Speaking of Science w/ Stacie Corcoran and Bridgette Thom: Introduction to Cancer Survivorship (Online)

Speaking of Science returns on Zoom! The program will feature two twenty-minute talks followed by a Q&A. Society member Carol Portlock moderates. 4th Wednesdays.

This month’s speakers:

Bridgette Thom, Ph.D. is a senior research specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Center, where she conducts research relating to cancer survivorship. Specifically, she addresses the financial impact of cancer and resultant disparities in treatment adherence and health/mental health services use, and her work focuses on adolescent and young adult cancer patients and survivors. Her dissertation research assessed substance use disparities in sexual and gender minority youth. Dr. Thom received her BA from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and earned her MSW and PhD from the Columbia School of Social Work.

Stacie Corcoran, RN, MS, AOCNS, is the Nurse Leader for the Survivorship Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where she manages multiple nurse practitioner-led clinics throughout the institution. She has presented nationally on survivorship models of care and long-term and late effects associated with cancer treatment. A graduate of William Paterson University and Columbia University, Corcoran has spent her entire career in oncology nursing. Prior to joining the Survivorship Program in 2010, she was the clinical nurse specialist within ambulatory adult lymphoma services at MSKCC.
