Karen Raschke
Karen Raschke graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC in 1980 and spent the first half of her legal career as in-house counsel for several health care corporations, both regional and national. As in-house counsel, she advised the companies on compliance issues pertaining to the statutes and regulations governing the provision of health care. She spent the second half of her career working for the Federal government in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, developing and implementing regulations governing the health care corporations providing care under those programs.
Raschke spent the last two years of her career at a little-known Federal agency named the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, part of the Department of Transportation, where she worked for the agency Administrator implementing improvements to the regulatory compliance function. After retiring in 2014, she moved to New York.
Richard Koral
Before entering Ethical Culture Leadership, Richard Koral was an AV rated lawyer (deemed as having the highest ethical standards and preeminent legal ability. Only lawyers with the highest ethical standards and professional ability receive a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating of “AV.”).
Koral worked for over three decades in commercial law and litigation and specializing in business bankruptcy reorganizations. He worked in firms both large and small in New York City.
Joseph Fashing
“My legal career was the result of what I describe as a colossal mid-life crisis. Having just received tenure at the College (SUNY Purchase) where I was teaching sociology, I wondered if I really wanted to continue that work for a lifetime. Consequently, when I returned from my first sabbatical I enrolled in Pace University’s Law School which was close enough to Purchase that I could literally attend classes between the classes for which I was responsible. As the organizer of our faculty union chapter and its president for many years , my only two goals were to finish law school before my daughters graduated from college (I beat them by one year) and to sue the University when the opportunity presented itself.
“Once admitted to the Bar I took a leave of absence for one year to see if I would be able to support myself as a lawyer. While I decided that I could, I also rapidly rediscovered the virtues of academic life and the law has remained an avocation since. I’ve dabbled in labor law and related areas, done some divorce and divorce mediation and handled some political asylum cases among other things. While I’m now retired from the academic world, I continue to make occasional forays into the legal arena.”
