Ethical Adventures: The Ukrainian Museum

August 12, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

NYC’s Ukrainian Museum is the largest American museum dedicated to the cultural heritage of people from Ukraine. Its collection falls into three primary groupings: folk art, which includes festive and ritual attire and other items of clothing, ceramics, metalwork and carved-wood items—and the famed Ukrainian Easter eggs; fine arts, including paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphic works by noted Ukrainian artists; and historic items documenting the history and cultural legacy of Ukrainian immigration to the United States going back as far as the 1600s, including photographs, personal correspondence, posters, flyers and playbills, stamps and coins.

For lunch we’ll go to the popular Ukrainian restaurant Veselka (be prepared for a short wait) just up Second Ave. at 9th St. Mmm…borscht and pierogi, here we come!

Details: We’ll meet at 10:30 at NYSC on W. 64th & CPW. The museum is at 222 E. 6th Street, between Second Ave. & Cooper Square. From NYSEC, we’ll walk up to W. 66th St. to take the M66 bus across to Lexington Ave., where we’ll catch the M101 bus, and take that to 3rd Ave. & Astor Place. There, we’ll cross to Cooper Square and walk left onto E. 6th Street. [Rain date: Thursday, August 18)

Important — RSVP on or before Friday, August 5 to Elinore Kaplan at elinore100@gmail.com.
