Sunday Platform with Joe Chuman and Leonard Grob: The Israel-Hamas War and the Day After
March 17 @ 11:30 am - 12:15 pm
Free and open to the public, in-person and online!
I had an unusual opportunity last month to travel Israel to get sense of Israeli society in person and on the ground. I met with representatives of civil society to hear from them their response to their government, the devastating war in Gaza, and the efforts at mutual support in light of the massacre of October 7th.
In my presentation of March 17th I want to share what I saw and learned as well as relate the context for these very disturbing events.
I will be joined by Professor Leonard Grob. Professor Grob is a Holocaust scholar. His research has led to a life long commitment to fostering peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He has done much work on site in the Middle East. In more recent decades, Dr. Grob has served as president, and now vice-president, of Partners for a Progressive Israel, which has become a significant actor in attempting to bring an end to the conflict. Our discussion will include thoughts on plans for long range peace after the current violence comes to an end.
I hope you can join me for an important discussion.

About Sunday Platform
Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest. Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
