Join the New York Society for Ethical Culture in observing Banned Books Week from September 22 to 28! Since 1982, this national event has raised awareness about the harms of censorship, bringing together librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers in support of exploring and expressing ideas.
We invite you to participate by sharing the title of a banned book that made a difference in your life, along with a brief description of why it holds special significance for you. Your contributions will become part of our collection, highlighting the importance of these works and celebrating the value of diverse voices.
Help us defend freedom of expression by sharing your stories and recognizing the impact of books. After Banned Books Week, NYSEC will continue to honor its commitment to knowledge by maintaining a permanent section of banned books in its library. You are welcome, in addition to the title of a banned book that is significant to you, to contribute a copy of that book to the Elliott Library.
