Central Park Tree Walk with Dendro Lab’s Carey Russell

October 27 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Are you ready to cultivate a closer and more familiar relationship with our neighborhood trees? If so, set off on the right foot with a leisurely walk in Central Park to learn the key concepts used in dendrology, which you know more commonly as the simple practice of tree identification. Each species of tree has its own unique characteristics and behavior, which make it surprisingly easy to identify – but only for those who know what they are looking for! If you’re interested in starting or furthering your practice as a naturalist, learning our local trees is a great place to start. A walk through the park or even around the block will never be quite the same again.

Your guide for this one-hour presentation will be today’s Sunday Platform guest Carey Russell, a local dendrologist and founding director of The Dendro Lab, an organization dedicated to sharing the environmental literacy of trees.

To Join

Meet at the Society Meeting House lobby at 1:00pm – 2 W 64th St. (at the corner of Central Park West).
