Concert: The Musical Love Letters of Robert, Clara, and Johannes
October 21, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This concert tells the story of three very closely linked composers. Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck were married and had seven children together. Robert was mentor to Johannes Brahms and a very close friendship of many years ensued between Johannes and Clara. Some believe that he was in love with her, but whether or not this was the case, their respect, admiration, and love for one another was made evident through countless letters and his loyalty and care for her through Robert’s illness and eventual death. Both Robert and Johannes dedicated piano works to Clara, and Clara did the same for Johannes. These can be seen as love letters in musical form.
Doors open at 5:45. Refreshments will be served!
