Ethics and the Theater: Gently Down the Stream by Martin Sherman
June 10, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Our long-running staged reading and discussion series returns in-person with Gently Down the Stream by Martin Sherman.
Beau and Rufus come from very different places, geographically — New Orleans vs. London — and psychologically: the 60-something Beau grew up when being gay was a dangerous secret; Rufus, 33 years younger, embraces his identity openly. But opposites, as they say, attract.
Through poignant and sharply funny vignettes, the play traces their relationship as it blossoms into love and, perhaps more important, a fast friendship.
After the play, Leader Nori Rost will moderate an open discussion about the ethical issues raised and explored in the work. Produced by Patricia Bruder Debrovner.
Matinee encore on Sunday, June 12, 2:00-4:00pm.
Members $5, Guests $10 (at door)
