Leader Dr. Joe Chuman sat down for an interview with writer and researcher Frederick Clarkson about the current state of the Religious Right and the threat it poses to democracy in the United States.

About Frederick Clarkson

Frederick Clarkson has written about politics and religion for four decades. His work has appeared in a wide range of publications from Mother JonesChurch & State, and Ms. Magazine to The Christian Science and Religion Dispatches. He is currently a Senior Research Analyst at Political Research Associates, a progressive, social justice think tank in Somerville, Massachusetts.

He has also worked as an investigative editor at Planned Parenthood Federation of America; as Communications Director at the Institute for Democracy Studies; and co-founded the group blog, Talk to Action. He is the author, co-author or editor of several books including Dispatches from the Religious Left: The Future of Faith and Politics in America and Eternal Hostility: The Struggle Between Theocracy and Democracy.

About Sunday Platform

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
