At March’s Share and Learn, we were joined by Dr. Susan W. Pitman Lowenthal and Dr. Ivan S. Lowenthal, who talked about the restoration of their historic Litchfield, CT home.

Ivan and Susan met while Medical Oncology fellows at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston MA and moved to Connecticut to practice, Ivan as founding partner of CT Oncology Hematology Associates, and Susan as a faculty member at the Yale School of Medicine. They restored the 1785 Dr. Daniel Sheldon House, 115 North St, in Litchfield where they raised their three children. Susan became a member of the Litchfield Historic District Commission and a 25 year elected member of the Litchfield Planning and Zoning Commission. She was President of Litchfield Citizens for Planning and Preservation, a non-profit group that created new zoning regulations to preserve the eighteenth century historic streetscape of the Landmark Litchfield Historic District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
