At our May 10 Sunday Platform, Leader Dr. Joe Chuman interviewed writer Mary Annaïse Heglar.

Mary Annaïse Heglar is a writer and communications professional based in New York City. She is currently the Writer in Residence at Columbia University’s Earth Institute and Director of Publications at the Natural Resources Defense Council. Mary’s writing focuses on the intersections between the climate crisis, justice, and emotionality. She has been published in Vox, Dame Magazine, Guernica, and WIRED, among other places. She is the co-host of Hot Take podcast, which takes a critical look at media coverage of the climate. Read her on Medium at @Maryheglar and follow her on Twitter at @maryheglar.

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings usually begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Ethical Culture philosophy. A collection basket is passed and money is shared between the Society and a charity selected for that day.  While contributions are always appreciated, Sunday meetings are free and open to the public.  Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
