Thursday 2/11: ‘American Son’ at Ethics and the Theater

By February 8, 2021February 16th, 2021No Comments

Join us Thursday, February 11 at 7:00pm for our monthly staged reading and discussion, now online! This month’s play is American Son by Christopher Demos-Brown:

It’s 4 a.m., and a white man and Black woman wait in a Miami police station for news of their son. He’s been involved in a traffic stop, but no one seems to know where he is or if he’s alive. As the morning wears on, tensions rise, revealing seemingly unbridgeable chasms between Black and white, police and civilian.

The play will be performed by Erin Cherry, Daniel Petzold, Matt Golden, and Jerome Preston Bates, and is directed by Patricia Floyd and Eric Phillips. Following the play reading, Betsy Ungar will lead an audience discussion of the ethical issues of the play.
