As the coronavirus pandemic persists, hunger is rising in New York City. Help our neediest neighbors this winter by asking your building neighbors to donate food, and we’ll pick it up!
Wherever you live in Manhattan, your deed can make a difference in the lives of others. Even if you live in a small building, New Yorkers will generously donate canned and boxed food.
Simply get a message to the residents of your building to safely bring out bags of donated food. Society members Howard and Janet Rose will then come to your building, collect the donated goods, and bring them to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger. For over 40 years WSCAH has worked with 35 other organizations to address food insecurity in the five boroughs.
Contact Janet Rose at jrose@nysec.org to learn how to work with your building management to get out a message to residents asking them to donate boxed and canned foods.
No building staff need to be involved, with no collection box in your lobby. Simply let residents know that the Roses will be outside at the arranged day and time! That’s all it took to fill their van on this previous trip:
Please become a part of this safe, simple, and successful way to help others in their time of need!
