Commissioner Kathryn Garcia is a lifelong New Yorker. She started her career as an intern at the Department of Sanitation. Ms. Garcia then worked for eight years at the City’s Department of Environmental Protection where she was chief operating officer. She returned to the Sanitation Commission in 2014 when Mayor Bill DeBlasio appointed her Commissioner.
