Steven Hoffen, a high school teen from NYC, was inspired to action following a visit to Sindyanna of Galilee, a non-profit agricultural organization in Israel where Arab and Jewish women work together closely to cultivate social change. His film, “Growing Peace in the Middle East” has won awards for best short documentary by capturing the power of cooperation to combat food insecurity while empowering women with meaningful, skilled work. We watched the short film and interviewed amazing young man about his journey to activism, his current work as founder of Growing Peace using hydroponics to support local organizations, and how his experience has impacted his life and relationships.

Sunday Platform is our most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest.  Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.
